While you may find the story more interesting if you know all the background events from previous games, simply watch it like a popcorn movie is fine too. It’s a lot but you can get use to it.ītw, SE has a turbo mode that makes the game like 20% faster than the base game.DMC is not a game that sells itself with the story. You play 4 different characters, you have tons of different abilities and weapons and you can use everything in all levels once you unlock the abilities or the weapons in the story. You get orbs from killing enemies, you use orbs to level up… or you use them to fight (you’ll learn what this means like 3/4 of the way through your first time playing the game lol). The level up mechanics are basically the same as the SoulsBourne series. Some things are close to frame perfect, maybe 2-3 frames, but they’re not impossible to learn. There’s no “optimal” combos in this game, there’s just stuff that’s flashy or stuff that speed runners abuse to melt bosses. Your progress in each difficulty is tracked and rated D-S. There are 4 different “main” difficulties then like 3 more challenge difficulties to play through. The story of DMC5 is the best it’s been but it’s not Dad of War amazing. It's especially easy and fun to do in 5 so I recommend you to experiment on that instead of focusing on efficiency during battle. Practice and see what weapon/skill does what, and use them in the ways you want, making your own combos. But in general there will be places where HAH's difficulty feels unreasonably hard.īy the way DMC5 gives you a lot of options to deal with one enemy/boss's attacks, so it's not all about dodge, run and hit. It's not impossible of course, pretty achievable even, if you mastered every enemy attack/best way of approach. The game, it's enemies, aren't really designed for you to play without getting hit. Hell and Hell is more of an special challenge mode where 1 hit kills you but enemy difficulty is one level down from DMD. Enemies hit the hardest, has a buff mode when near death, has the most aggression etc. Technically Dante Must Die (DMD) is the hardest difficulty that challenges you on an "normal circumstance". There may be misconceptions about DMC difficulty based on you asking for Hell and Hell.

I think you’ll still be able to enjoy the cutscenes regardless of you not playing the previous games.īiased or not this is probably the most premium tier hack n slash action game you can play because of the 4 playable characters, unlockables, graphics, and gameplay imo If you haven’t played the previous games then you may not understand 100% of the context of the story but it’s still very serviceable and a love letter to long time DMC fans. Hell and hell is also a fair challenge if you know what you’re doing and what to look at for but keep in mind that no matter how minor the damage, if you get hit you instantly die. Hell and Hell mode can only be unlocked if you play the easier difficulties or if you purchase the Unlock all Mode DLC via PSN store. It also focuses on being stylish while kicking your enemies ass and have a high skill curve to it as you continue to play. Devil May Cry 5 SE is a faster pace game than Demon Soul’s Blood Bourne, and Sekiro’s slow and methodical approach to gameplay.
